Once Upon A Tree

Once Upon A Tree began from a passion to create the best quality cider and perry from the highest quality fruit, whilst continuing to preserve the heritage and tradition of Herefordshire cider-making. The apples and pears are sourced from the traditional apple growing area of Putley near Marcle Ridge. The cider is made at Dragon Orchard, Ledbury.

Good orchard management, fantastic soils and perfect mesoclimate means the fruit is some of the best available anywhere in the UK. Cider maker Simon Day is an experienced professional winemaker who began making cider after walking through the local orchards and seeing the potential to use winemaking skills to capture the true characters of the apples in the juice and ciders.

Great care is taken to select the best fruit with the least intervention possible to maximise the flavour imparted into their ciders and perrys.

Once Upon A Tree have been recongnised for their superior cider making through a number of awards over the years including the following:

  • Bath & West Champion Perry Trophy

  • Overall Champion Trophy at the International Cider & Perry Competition

  • BBC Radio 4 Food & Farming "Drinks Producer of the Year"
