Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry

The Johnson family of Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry have been pressing apples and pears in the unique soil and climate of their Herefordshire farm since the 1930s.

Ross cider and perry is made pure and simple, using only whole juice, mainly from the Johnson family orchards and allowing natural fermentation. Cider making on Broome Farm is a way of life and a celebration of cider’s traditions. Into every batch goes the Johnson’s heartfelt belief in the superiority of a natural product over more processed commercial drinks.

Each year their cider and perry varies according to the weather, the quantity of crop, the health of the trees and the fermentation conditions. Their ciders have great depth of flavour, with different combinations of acidity, tannin, astringency, aromas and aftertastes. Their job is to let the apples do the talking.

Ross-on-Wye Cider & Perry have won countless awards over the years. Mike Johnson is also widely regarded as a mentor to many well-known cider makers and in 2013 won the Queen’s Diamond Award for excellence.
